name
  Hans Vollmer chair
description
An absolute rare chair by the company Prag-Rudniker's (Vienna) leading designer Hans Vollmer (1879-1946). A simular chair has been auctioned by Dorotheum in 2002. After 1905 Hans Vollmer was working as an independent designer from which period this chair is a good example. The Corduroy upholstery is, to our knowledge, of a later period being from about 1925-1930. What the 1st upholstery has been we can only quess but it is most likely that it was woven cane. Looking more carefully to the design of this chair the resemblances with furniture designs of the Wiener Werkstatte is striking. This chair has been restored while retaining its authenticity. Which means there where no parts replaced. Dimensions: H x W x D = 70 x 57,5 x 51 cm. Seating height: 47 cm. Condition: restored / very good. Origin: Austria. Year: about 1907-1909.
