name
  Modernist crate coffee table
description
Unusual wooden crate coffee table. This table is influenced by the crate furniture and more specific the crate table by Gerrit Rietveld. The red color is its original lacquer and came underneath two layers of white paint which was done by its former owner. Unlike the crate table this frame is made as a whole and does not skip at any point. However the glass top plate does skip on all four corners which gives the inpression that the stands skip. The glass plate is original and has little holes on one side which indicates that the glass is pulled out of the oven with metal hooks. This is an old accustomed principle which nowadays isn't used anymore. Therefor this table most have been made in the late 40's or early 50's. The thick glass plate is supported by eight (8) metal pins. The inner part, which can by used as a magazine bin, is made out of melanine ( Trespa) covered wood. NFS: Not for sale (yet)
