name
De Stijl or Bauhaus serving tray (Sold)
description
Applied Art at its best! Very nice designed and balanced serving tray from the "de Stijl" and "Bauhaus" era. We have never seen such a serving tray before. The geometric upper is made out of thin phenol resin colored sheets (bakelite) This upper could also be Resopal. Bakelite (1909) is a precursor of Resopal (1930). This serving tray is strongly influenced by the work of Gerrit Rietveld and Piet Mondriaan. Dimensions: L x D x H = 40 x 28 x 2,5 cm. Year: early 1930's. origin: (problably) Dutch.
