name
  Modernist De Stijl table
description
Sober and strictly designed wooden center table. This table can be related to the so called "Haagse School" or "de Stijl" furniture. Because of its hard lines and architectural aspects it has many resemblances with a table (1927) we use to have in our stock by the Dutch interior decorator Frits Spanjaard (sold). It also has many simularities with some designs by Gerrit Rietveld. For instants his wooden bookcase(s) and dinnertable that is displayed at "Centraal Museum" with six (6) Zigzagchairs. This table is fully original which means there are no parts replaced or restored. On the downside of the upper tabletop there were two (2) wooden bars attached. They were attached to prevent warping of the tabletop. However they are of a more recent period, looking to the aging of the wood, and therefor are removed from this table. This table is still in research. Dimensions: L x D x H = 110 x 61 x 45 cm. Year: 1920's. Origin: Dutch.
