name
  ROBJ Paris small table lamp
description
Lovely and feminin cast iron table lamp. Its hard to say if the glass lampshade is original yet we found it as a whole. It looks like it is original because the system, which makes sure that the glass stays in position, that is mounted on the fitting is also original. The lamp is marked on the downside with ROBJ Paris. Small Biography: Robj (pseudonym for Jean Born) created his design company in 1908 which was was active in Paris in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Jean Born died in a car accident in 1922 and the company continued under the direction of his partner, Lucien Willmetz. Robj Paris was in operation from 1921 to 1931 and employed designers and artists to create Art Deco- and Cuban style designs for the company which then commissioned them to be made, e.g. by Limoges Porcelain. As part of their quest for new designers, Robj also sponsored a competition held annually between 1927 and 1931. The company designs featured mainly bookends, ashtrays, lamp bases, small ceramic figures (especially of dancers) as well as this small kind of table lamps which are very rare.
