Jan van Hest
Two fabulous paintings by the artist; Jan van Hest. Short biography of the artist: Jan van Hest was born on February 5, 1915. With his work he achieved in 1968 the recognition of the French Salon de Peinture, after Jacob Maris (1922) the second Dutchman who was given this prize. In 1966, van Hest was awarded with "Coppa mini straw Corana del" in Florence. For fifty years Jan van Hest worked, by the geometry, to four-dimensional on a flat surface. In his book, "Jan van Hest 4 dimensionaal in de kunst", which was published in 1970, his quest for this dimension is discribed extensively. Van Hest was educated at the R.K. leergangen and for two years he was a pupil of Jan Sluyters. The work of Jan van Hest was exhibited in Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Copenhagen, Berlin, Florence, Paris, New York, London and Milan. Jan van Hest died in Eindhoven. Dimensions of both works: H x W = 50 x 40 cm. Year: early 1960's (not dated). Both works are signed on the right downside.
