name
  De STIJL shoe polish table/cabinet
description
Museum worthy piece and an absolute "must-have" for the collector. A fabulous 1920's shoe polish table/cabinet made and designed in the, so called, "de Stijl" manner. It is monumental and strictly at the same time. With a little bit of fantasy you can see Gerrit Rietvelt polish his shoes on it. Looking at its condition it has been used to the fullest. It bares many traces of use and on some parts there is borer. The borer is easely treatable by a good restorer. The table/cabinet can be restored, still we think it does not do justice to the authenticity. Therefor we'll keep it this way for now. The colours, sort of timber and its hard lines of this design ar typical to "de Stijl". Designers that come to mind are; Gerrit Rietveld, Koo Verzuu and Vilmos Huszár. Dimensions: H x W x D = 52 x 22 x 40 cm. Origin: Dutch. Designer/Maker: In Research
