name
  Bauhaus serving tray
description
A utensil and art gathered in a fabulous high end piece of craftsmanship. Steady and elegant bauhaus (influenced) three tiered serving tray. This tray is similar in style to a lamp designed by Walter von Nessen for Pattyn. This lamp is displayed in the book "1000 lights" part I one page 337. It is constructed out of stainless steel, glass and red+black bakelite parts. The round plates are "driven" by hand to round cups. Looking at it more carefully you can see the industrial influences of the Bauhaus. The red bakelite parts gives this tray a more frivolous touch. Dimensions: H x Dia = 42 x 23 cm. Origin: German/Dutch. Year: mid 1930's.
