Early Dutch modernist side table (Sold)
description
Early 20th century Dutch side-table in the so called Amsterdamse school style. Problably made and designed by Arie Houtman or Jan Wils (still in research). Looking to its form and then especially to the legs and cross there are some major simularities with a table designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh ( a stained oak round table with square cut-outs to the legs and double cross stretchers, circa 1900). The upper is decorated with a hamered brass plate which is showing a nice old patine. The fouw legs are held together by a floor cross which is mounted in each leg by two copper screws. All legs are decorated with square cut-outs. As far as we know this is a unique piece of arts&craftmenship. Dimensions: Diameter59 x H70 cm. Year: 1900-1915 Origin: Dutch
